Air Fryer Chicken Tenders

Chicken breast strips marinated in buttermilk, coated in seasoned flour, and air fried until golden and crispy. A healthier take on classic tenders.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups buttermilk.
  • 1 lemon, juiced.
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon kosher salt.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper.
  • 1.52 lbs chicken breasts.
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour.
  • 1.5 tablespoons baking powder.
  • 1.5 tablespoons garlic powder.
  • 1.5 tablespoons paprika.
  • Cooking spray.
  • Parsley for garnish.

Instructions

  1. Spray air fryer basket with nonstick spray.
  2. Mix buttermilk, lemon juice, 1 tablespoon salt, and pepper.
  3. Slice chicken into 1/2-inch strips, marinate 1 hour to overnight.
  4. Mix flour, baking powder, seasonings. Stir in 1/4 cup marinade for lumps.
  5. Coat chicken strips in flour mixture, place in air fryer basket.
  6. Air fry at 350°F for 6 minutes per side until 165°F internal temp.
  7. Garnish with parsley, serve with BBQ sauce.

Notes

Keep cooked pieces warm in 250°F oven.
Cook in single layers.
Flour lumps create extra crunch.
