  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and brown sugar until well combined.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the diced apples.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.

Notes

For a crispier texture, use Granny Smith apples. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
