- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup diced apples (peeled and cored)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the diced apples.
- Add the milk and stir until just combined; do not overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently a few times.
- Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle and cut out biscuits using a 2-inch round cutter.
- Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a sweeter version, add a glaze made from powdered sugar and apple juice after baking.
