  • 2bratwurst or any preferred sausages
  • 1 tablespoonolive oil
  • For the Mashed Potatoes
  • 1pound (450 g) potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoonsbutter
  • ¼ cupwarm milk (adjust for creaminess)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • For the Onion Gravy
  • 1large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoonsbutter
  • 1 tablespoonflour
  • 1 cupbeef or chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoonWorcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoonmustard (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the Mashed Potatoes
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the potato cubes and cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain, then mash with butter, warm milk, salt, and pepper until creamy. Keep warm.
  3. Cook the Sausages
  4. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook until browned and cooked through, turning often for even color. Remove from the pan and keep warm.
  5. Prepare the Onion Gravy
  6. In the same skillet, melt butter and add sliced onions. Cook slowly for 8–10 minutes until golden and caramelized. Stir in the flour and cook for another minute.
  7. Gradually pour in the broth while whisking to create a smooth sauce. Add Worcestershire sauce, mustard (if using), and season with salt and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
  8. Assemble and Serve
  9. Spoon mashed potatoes onto plates, place the sausages on top, and drizzle with the rich onion gravy. Sprinkle with chopped parsley for a fresh finish.
