- 1 chocolate sponge cake, cut into cubes
- 400g cherries, pitted and halved
- 200g dark chocolate, grated
- 500ml double cream, whipped
- 50g sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the chocolate sponge by cutting it into cubes.
- In a trifle dish, layer the chocolate sponge cubes at the bottom.
- Add a layer of pitted cherries over the sponge.
- Sprinkle grated dark chocolate over the cherries.
- Spread a layer of whipped double cream on top.
- Repeat the layers until the dish is full, ending with whipped cream.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use kirsch-soaked cherries.
