Black Forest Trifle

A decadent dessert featuring layers of chocolate sponge, cherries, and whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 chocolate sponge cake, cut into cubes
  • 400g cherries, pitted and halved
  • 200g dark chocolate, grated
  • 500ml double cream, whipped
  • 50g sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chocolate sponge by cutting it into cubes.
  2. In a trifle dish, layer the chocolate sponge cubes at the bottom.
  3. Add a layer of pitted cherries over the sponge.
  4. Sprinkle grated dark chocolate over the cherries.
  5. Spread a layer of whipped double cream on top.
  6. Repeat the layers until the dish is full, ending with whipped cream.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use kirsch-soaked cherries.
