- 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot, boil the chopped cabbage for 5-7 minutes until tender; drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and sauté the diced onion until translucent.
- In a large bowl, mix the cooked cabbage, sautéed onion, shredded cheese, milk, salt, and pepper.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish and top with breadcrumbs.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
This casserole pairs well with grilled meat and can be made ahead for easy reheating. Use low-fat cheese for a lighter version.
