For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tsp thyme
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls, toasted
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 375Β°F. Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Form into 12 meatballs and bake for 20 minutes.
- While meatballs cook, melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook until caramelized (about 15 minutes). Stir in beef broth and thyme.
- Add cooked meatballs to the onion mixture. Top with provolone and Swiss cheese. Cover until cheese melts.
- Spoon meatballs and onion mixture onto toasted hoagie rolls. Serve immediately.
