- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon, until no longer pink.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- Serve hot over grilled hot dogs.
Notes
For a spicier version, add cayenne pepper to taste. This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
