- 2 cups diced apples
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the diced apples, milk, egg, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Sprinkle with additional cinnamon sugar if desired and serve warm.
Notes
For a healthier version, bake instead of fry at 400°F for 15-20 minutes. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
