Homemade Tennessee Onions

A delicious Southern-style dish featuring sweet onions baked in a creamy, cheesy sauce.

For the Crust:

  • 4 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Layer half the sliced onions in a greased baking dish. Spread half the mayonnaise mixture over the onions, then sprinkle half the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
  4. Repeat the layers with remaining onions, mayonnaise mixture, and cheeses. Top with Parmesan cheese and drizzle with melted butter.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
