Italian Herbs and Cheese Bread

A flavorful homemade bread infused with Italian herbs and melted cheese, perfect as a side or appetizer.

For the Crust:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, basil, oregano, and garlic powder. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  7. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
