Red Velvet Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Soft and chewy red velvet cookies packed with chocolate chunks for a delicious twist on classic cookies.

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chunks.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set but centers are still soft.
  9. Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
