Sausage and Mushroom Puff Pastry Pot Pies

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add mushrooms, onion, and garlic; cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in heavy cream and simmer until thickened, about 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Divide mixture into individual pie dishes.
  6. Roll out puff pastry and cut to fit over the dishes. Brush with egg wash.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until pastry is golden and puffed.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute sausage with plant-based alternatives.
