Ingredients
- Pork and sage breakfast sausage meat (1 pound).
- Sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated (1/2 cup).
- Panko breadcrumbs (1/2 cup).
- Large eggs (2).
- Dijon mustard (2 tablespoons).
- Fresh thyme leaves (1 tablespoon, plus extra for garnish).
- Puff pastry (17.3 oz box, 2 sheets).
- Everything bagel seasoning (2 tablespoons).
- Hot honey for drizzling.
Instructions
- Heat oven to 400°F. Put parchment on your baking sheet.
- Mix sausage meat, grated cheese, breadcrumbs, 1 egg, and thyme in a bowl until well combined.
- Beat remaining egg with a splash of water in a small bowl.
- On a floured surface, roll each pastry sheet slightly and cut into two long strips. You'll have four strips total.
- Shape sausage mix into four long ropes. Place one rope in the middle of each pastry strip.
- Spread mustard on one side of pastry and egg wash on the other. Roll up with seam underneath.
- Cut small slits on top, then slice into 1½-inch pieces. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with bagel seasoning.
- Cook for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and puffed up.
- Let cool briefly, then drizzle with hot honey and sprinkle with fresh thyme before serving.
Notes
Best served warm but also delicious at room temperature.
Can be made ahead and reheated when needed.
