Sausages with Mushroom Gravy and Creamy Cabbage Mashed Potatoes

This comforting dish features sausages smothered in a rich mushroom gravy, served with creamy mashed potatoes mixed with cabbage for a hearty meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 sausages
  • 200g mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 500g potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 200g cabbage, shredded
  • 100ml cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 200ml beef stock

Instructions

  1. Cook sausages in a pan until browned, then set aside.
  2. In the same pan, sauté onions and garlic until soft.
  3. Add mushrooms and cook until they release their juices.
  4. Stir in flour and beef stock to make the gravy; simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Boil potatoes until tender, then mash with butter and cream.
  6. Steam cabbage and mix into the mashed potatoes.
  7. Serve sausages with gravy over the creamy cabbage mashed potatoes.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute sausages with plant-based alternatives. Ensure gravy thickens properly before serving.
