Classic Scotch Meat Pies

A traditional Scottish pie made with ground meat, spices, and pastry, perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 200ml beef stock
  • 500g shortcrust pastry

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a large pan, cook the onion and garlic until softened.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and beef stock. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Roll out the pastry and line pie tins with it.
  6. Fill the pastry with the meat mixture and cover with more pastry.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden.

Notes

These pies are best served warm with a side of mashed potatoes.
