Texas Roadhouse Smothered Chicken

Juicy chicken breasts smothered in a rich mushroom and onion gravy, inspired by Texas Roadhouse.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5-6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add butter, onions, and mushrooms. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Gradually whisk in chicken broth, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until the gravy thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Return chicken to the skillet, spooning gravy over the top. Simmer for 2-3 minutes to heat through.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
