Texas Roadhouse Smothered Chicken

Juicy chicken breasts smothered in a rich mushroom and cheese sauce, inspired by Texas Roadhouse.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 5-6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add mushrooms, onions, and garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low and stir in heavy cream. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  5. Gradually add cheddar, Monterey Jack, and Parmesan cheeses, stirring until melted and smooth.
  6. Return chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
