- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, paprika, coriander, turmeric, black pepper, salt, egg, and breadcrumbs. Mix well and form into small meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add sliced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, paprika, and cumin. Bring to a simmer.
- Gently add the meatballs to the sauce. Cover and simmer for 30-40 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through and flavors meld.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional fresh herbs if desired.
